Head of Policy
Paul McCormack joined the SGSA in November 2018, on secondment from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
Paul has had a varied career in policy development since the late 1980s, principally in the Civil Service, He has been involved in a wide range of projects, including coordination of Government input to the Stonehenge Project, and encouraging use of HSE’s Management Standards for work-related stress by Education Sector employers.
Other previous policy responsibilities working in central UK Government Departments and Regulatory Bodies have included: Brexit no deal contingency planning on medicines regulation, arm’s length bodies reform, and learning disabilities health access policy.
Paul also has policy experience outside central Government, gained through three year’s experience providing the secretariat to the UK and Ireland Regulatory Board of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and delivering, in parallel, the regulatory reform elements of the RICS UK Residential Property Strategic Programme.
