Home / About us / Our people / Wendy Harnan-Kajzer Wendy Harnan-KajzerDeputy Head of Inspectorate Wendy joined the SGSA in 2019, and became Deputy Head of Inspectorate in 2023. Prior to joining the SGSA she spent 16 years in local government. As Emergency Planning Manager for Nottinghamshire County Council, she chaired the Safety Advisory Groups for large sports grounds in the county including Trent Bridge and The City Ground as well as planning for and responding to a wide range of major incidents. During 10 years as SAG chair, Wendy worked with a diverse range of sports including cricket, football, horse racing, rugby and cycling and major sporting competitions and events including The Ashes, the Olympic Torch Relay, Tour of Britain Cycle Race, and the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Whilst at Nottinghamshire, she championed the role of local authority SAG chairs, leading a network of regional and national groups promoting sharing of good practice, and representing the interests of members at a national level. Wendy’s emergency planning background has given her extensive experience of writing major incident plans, leading major multi-agency exercises, and designing and delivering training programmes for strategic, tactical and operational incident response. Wendy holds a diploma in Emergency Planning from Coventry University, a degree in Anthropology from Durham University, and is qualified to NVQ level 4 in Spectator Safety Management. She is also a Member of the Emergency Planning Society.
