Alternative Uses of Sports Grounds

There is an increasing use of sports grounds for events other than those for which they were primarily designed.  These often incorporate complex and extravagant productions and often utilise the field of play for spectator accommodation. This presents enormous challenges to those responsible for ensuring the safety of spectators.

The SGSA’s Alternative Uses of Sports Grounds guidance is written to address these challenges. It provides much needed guidance to stadium owners, operators, local authorities, promoters and event organisers to help adapt existing sports grounds to safely accommodate a range of events.
