Mark Smith

Inspector

Mark Smith joined the SGSA in 2009.  He started as an Assistant Inspector and was promoted to an Inspector in December 2018.

Mark is responsible for inspecting clubs in the North West.  He also leads on Spectator Safety Standards and qualifications, local authority audits and motor racing. Mark has been involved in a number of projects within the SGSA. He was part of the editorial team for the sixth edition of the Green Guide, and has worked in international projects including Romania, South America and Africa.

Prior to joining the SGSA, Mark was a Senior Licensing Officer for Doncaster Metropolitan Council where his role included dealing with a large variety of licensing functions. Here, he successfully oversaw the introduction of two new pieces of legislation – the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005 – along with all the policies and procedures needed.  He was also an Environmental Health Officer for South Kesteven District Council.

Between 2014 and 2016, Mark was also a voluntary Safety Officer at Lincoln City Football Club, where he completed the NVQ level 4 in sports grounds safety.
