Home / About us / Our people / Ken Scott MBE Ken Scott MBEHead of Inspectorate Ken Scott MBE has been the Head of Inspectorate at the SGSA since 2016, having joined as an Inspector in 2013. Ken was previously involved in local government, including being Chair of the Safety Advisory Group for the English soccer team Sunderland. He is the lead author of the SGSA’s Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (Green Guide), used around the world as the definitive best practice guide for the development and refurbishment of stadia. He is also author of the Supplementary Guide 02 (SG02) Planning for Social Distancing at Sport Grounds used around the world in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ken was a co-author of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund/ FLA Sports Ground and Stadia Guide No 3 on Concourses and co-author on the SGSA guide on Alternative Uses of Sports Grounds. Ken has also co-authored a number of other safety related publications including Sports Grounds Certification for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). He is also a technical advisor to the Council of Europe, provides expert advice to Interpol and has advised world and national sport governing bodies, Governments and trade organisations. Ken is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and former chair of the RICS Building Control Professional Group. Ken received a MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2020 for Services to Safety at Sporting Events.
