Garry O’Hagan

Regional Inspector - Scotland

Garry O’Hagan joined the SGSA in January 2025 as our Scotland Inspector.

Having trained as an Electrical Design Engineer with a firm of Consultants, Garry gained experience in stadium development at numerous stadiums before moving into full time sport.  With Hibernian FC he initially joined as Stadium Manager, before becoming Club Secretary and eventually joining the Full Board as Operations Director where he served for a further 11 years.

During his time away from Hibernian FC, Garry moved into a consultancy role working with several clubs and the Scottish FA, where as Project Manager he oversaw their move into the Scottish National Performance Centre for Sport at Oriam (Heriot-Watt University).  In addition, he was appointed Team Manager overseeing the Scottish Women’s National Team participation in the UEFA Women’s European Championships 2017.  In England, Garry assisted on the operational restructuring and essential building system upgrades at Bolton Wanderers FC before returning to Hibernian FC in 2021 as Venue & Operations Director, overseeing significant upgrade and modernisation work at the Stadium and Training Centre over a 3-year period.

Since 2019 he has also been an active UEFA Match Delegate overseeing the orderly organisation of matches, checking on stadium compliance, ensuring competition regulations and commercial commitments are met, and that instructions for safety and security inside and outside stadiums are complied with.

Since joining the SGSA, Garry has been supporting partners within Scotland, working together to improve the safety certification processes and safety at sports grounds more generally by assisting clubs, local authorities and partner organisations to help maintain high levels of spectator safety.
