Internship reports

The SGSA is committed to supporting the development of research on sports grounds safety.

Since 2019, we have provided intern opportunities for students, with the following reports produced during their time with the SGSA.

The reports should not be considered as SGSA policy.

Making Sense of Football Fan Behaviour Data

In November 2022, Jennifer Dang Guay completed a research paper on fan behaviour following the reopening of football grounds post-COVID-19. This considered the trends post-Covid-19, Anti-social Behaviour Definition and Quality Assessment

This report was written as part of the internship work undertaken by Jennifer Dang Guay during her Masters degree in Statistics and Data Science at KU Leuven, Belgium, which took place between July and October 2022.

Changing nature of spectator behaviour

In September 2019, the SGSA published a research paper on the Changing Nature of Spectator Behaviour.

This work was conducted by Aidan Collins, a PhD student in the Department of History at the University of York, while on a 3-month internship with the SGSA. This work placement was fully funded by the Research Council United Kingdom and was conducted between June and September 2019.
