SGSA supporting African football safety and security
Two SGSA Inspectors are today supporting the first Safety and Security Conference for Confederation Cup and Champions League Clubs.
The conference has been developed by the African Football Confederation (CAF) as part of its long-term commitment to safety and security across the African continent. The event is being jointly facilitated by CAF, FIFA and the SGSA.
SGSA Inspectors Rick Riding and Mark Smith are speaking at the event, providing insights into communication, command and control procedures, along with the importance of partnership working.
This work is part of the latest SGSA work in Africa which includes inspecting stadia in Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.
Martyn Henderson, Chief Executive of the SGSA, said: “The SGSA is committed to supporting the improvement of safety and security at stadia in Africa. We are proud of the work we have achieved with FIFA and CAF over the last 12 months and look forward to continuing this in the future.”
The work in Africa is part of the SGSA’s commitment to raising the profile of sports grounds safety and setting and driving up standards internationally – both key objectives of the organisation’s strategic plan.
