SGSA finances

The SGSA is funded through grant-in-aid and income from our advisory services.

As part of our commitment to transparency, the information below outlines the financial management of the SGSA.

How is the SGSA funded?

The SGSA is funded in the following way:

Licence fee – covering regulatory activities only, paid for by licensed clubs.

Grant-in-aid – provided by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). This covers sector leading activities, such as women’s football and Green Guide development.

Advisory income – covering any advisory activities, such as across the UK where the SGSA is not a regulator, and overseas activities.

Detailed information on financial statements can be found in the Annual Report and Accounts.

Financial oversight

The SGSA’s Board is responsible for oversight of the SGSA’s finances and budgets.  In particular, the Audit and Risk Committee receives regular reports and updates in relation to financial information and auditing procedures.

Audit arrangements

The SGSA has outsourced its internal audit procedures in order to provide an independent appraisal of measuring and evaluating the adequacy, reliability and effectiveness of our management and financial control systems.

Our Annual Report and Accounts are audited by the National Audit Office, before being assessed by the Comptroller and Auditor General prior to publication.
