Laura Strong


Laura Strong joined the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) in December 2016.

Prior to joining the SGSA, Laura had been the Manager of Safety at Sports Grounds in Northern Ireland since 2015, and prior to this worked as an Inspector since 2008.  She oversaw the introduction of safety at sports grounds legislation and guidance to the 30 designated sports grounds in Northern Ireland covering three sports.  She was also an Environmental Health Officer at two local authorities, including Belfast City Council where she specialised in health and safety.  She has worked on a number of different projects including with Leinster Rugby, Ireland Rugby, Belfast Marathon and extreme sports with Red Bull Ireland.

Laura is an Inspector of clubs in the North West.  She is also the lead for rugby lead, providing advice and guidance to the governing body and Rugby League Safety Officers Association.  She also leads on drones and pyrotechnics for the SGSA.

Laura  is a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner and has multiple qualifications in Environmental Health, including Nebosh Diploma in occupational safety and health and a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health.
