Jill McCracken

Inspector

Jill joined the SGSA in October 2019.

Through her career Jill has worked in the police service and in the private sector with almost every major security company, sport and music promoter. She began her route into the events world in 1995, when she was part of a small police planning team responsible for delivering the Oasis concerts at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire.

In 2003, she was the first police officer ever to obtain a degree in Crowd and Safety Management. She has worked in unique roles in the police service during the 2012 Olympics, 2014 Commonwealth Games, 2015 Rugby World Cup and as the National Police debrief coordinator. Whilst working at the College of Policing, she delivered the train the trainer sessions for all emergency services for the JESIP delivery and during this time she was the National Police Lead for  horse racing. A huge believer in utilising intelligence, she led a small team of other police officers and staff to develop what is now the National Events Intelligence Unit.

In 2016, she left the police service to take up the role of Tournament Safety and Security Director for the ICC/ ECB to deliver the three international events (The ICC Champions Trophy 2017, The ICC Women’s World Cup and the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup) . She ensured that The Champions Trophy continued in 2017 despite the terror attacks which directly affected one aspect of the event. Having delivered the ICC Cricket World Cup successfully in 2019, she then worked with World Rugby within their integrity team for the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Jill strongly believes in partnership working and developing intelligence lead, proportionate safety and security plans to ensure that the public, participants and workforce can enjoy events.
