Football Licensing and Data Manager

Each year, around 40 million fans attend football matches in the Premier League and EFL.  Our job is to keep them safe. 

This is a rare opportunity to join the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) team and support our work in ensuring fans enjoy live sport safely.

The Football Licensing and Data Manager role is responsible for managing the licensing of football grounds across England and Wales.  Supporting the SGSA team, your duties will include:

  • Managing the annual licence process – the SGSA’s key regulatory activity.
  • Supporting the implementation of licensed, safe standing.
  • Monitoring and evaluating data and information to support the SGSA’s wider policies and activities,

This is an exciting time to join the SGSA.  We have a new Chief Executive who will be shaping the future of the organisation over the coming years.  We also have a number of opportunities to enhance the role of the SGSA, which the Football Licensing and Data Manager will be integrally involved with, including:

  • Preparing for Men’s Euro Championships 2028, being held in the UK and Ireland;
  • Introducing licensing processes for the Women’s Super League, and
  • Supporting the wider policy function of the SGSA to implement any changes introduced by the new Government.

For this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • experience in being able work with information and data, and can use it to make effective decisions.
  • strong communication and influencing skills, who is able to deftly engage with other members of the team and wider stakeholders.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and is able to work at pace.
